Cisplatin + cytarabine is a combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used primarily in the treatment of hematologic malignancies, especially as part of multi-drug regimens for relapsed or refractory lymphomas such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Cisplatin is a platinum-based compound that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Cytarabine is an antimetabolite that inhibits DNA synthesis by acting as a cytosine analog, interfering with DNA polymerase during the S-phase of the cell cycle. This combination exploits different mechanisms to maximize cancer cell kill and overcome resistance seen with single-agent therapy[1][6][7]. The drugs are most commonly administered intravenously.
