Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cisplatin, dexamethasone, gemcitabine, and pegaspargase. This multi-agent chemotherapeutic approach is used in the treatment of certain hematological malignancies. Pegaspargase is an enzyme that depletes asparagine, which cancer cells cannot synthesize on their own, leading to their death. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy that damages DNA. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that interferes with DNA synthesis. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that helps reduce side effects and may have anti-cancer properties.
