This is a combination regimen consisting of cisplatin, docetaxel, and durvalumab. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks and induces apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Docetaxel is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting cell division. Durvalumab is a human IgG1κ monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses by blocking the interaction between PD-L1 and its receptor PD-1 on T cells. This combination has been investigated as an induction chemoimmunotherapy regimen for advanced cancers such as head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and has also been studied in other solid tumors[1][4][5]. The approach aims to combine cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy with immunomodulatory activity to improve tumor response rates.
