Overview

The combination of cisplatin, epirubicin, and paclitaxel is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma and advanced breast cancer. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis. Epirubicin is an anthracycline that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, resulting in DNA damage and cell death. Paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules, preventing their depolymerization during cell division, which leads to mitotic arrest and apoptosis. This combination has demonstrated significant antitumor activity with manageable toxicity profiles in clinical studies[1][2][3].
