Cisplatin + etoposide + enoxaparin is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of various cancers, particularly genitourinary small cell tumors and other advanced malignancies. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that forms DNA crosslinks, interfering with DNA replication and transcription, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that causes DNA strand breaks by preventing the re-ligation of DNA strands during replication, also resulting in cell death. Enoxaparin is a low molecular weight heparin anticoagulant that binds to antithrombin III and inhibits factor Xa (and to a lesser extent factor IIa), reducing thromboembolic complications often associated with cancer or its treatment. The combination may be used for both cytotoxic effects on tumor cells and prophylaxis against venous thromboembolism during intensive chemotherapy[1][2][3][4][5][6].
