Cisplatin + etoposide + enoxaparin is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of various cancers, particularly genitourinary small cell tumors and other advanced malignancies. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that forms DNA crosslinks, interfering with DNA replication and transcription, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that causes DNA strand breaks by preventing the re-ligation of DNA strands during replication, also resulting in cell death. Enoxaparin is a low molecular weight heparin anticoagulant that binds to antithrombin III and inhibits factor Xa (and to a lesser extent factor IIa), reducing thromboembolic complications often associated with cancer or its treatment.
