Overview

This is a sequential chemoimmunotherapy regimen combining conventional chemotherapy agents (cisplatin and etoposide) with immunomodulatory agents (thymosin-α1 and interferon-α2a). The combination was studied primarily for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The regimen works through multiple mechanisms: cisplatin and etoposide provide direct cytotoxic effects against cancer cells, while thymosin-α1 and interferon-α2a enhance immune function, particularly natural killer cell activity and T-cell responses. In clinical studies, this combination demonstrated objective responses in patients with advanced NSCLC with acceptable toxicity and a median survival of approximately 12.6 months.
