Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents—cisplatin, etoposide, and vinorelbine. Each drug has a distinct mechanism of action targeting cancer cell proliferation: - **Cisplatin** is a platinum-based compound that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis by inhibiting DNA synthesis and function. - **Etoposide** inhibits topoisomerase II, resulting in DNA strand breaks and preventing cell division. - **Vinorelbine** is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule assembly during mitosis. This combination may be used in the treatment of various cancers, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where regimens containing these agents have been studied for efficacy and safety. The rationale for combining these drugs lies in their complementary mechanisms of action and non-overlapping toxicity profiles.
