Overview

This combination is used in chemotherapy for treating various cancers, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and recurrent head and neck cancer. Cisplatin is a platinum-based antineoplastic drug, fluorouracil (5-FU) is a pyrimidine analog, and leucovorin is a folinic acid derivative that enhances the efficacy of 5-FU by stabilizing its active metabolite. The combination works by inducing DNA damage and inhibiting DNA synthesis.
