This is a four-drug chemotherapy combination consisting of cisplatin, gemcitabine, docetaxel, and pemetrexed. Each drug is a cytotoxic agent with distinct mechanisms targeting rapidly dividing cancer cells. Cisplatin is a platinum-based compound that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis; gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis; docetaxel stabilizes microtubules to prevent cell division; and pemetrexed is an antifolate antimetabolite that disrupts folate-dependent metabolic processes essential for cell replication. This combination would be considered highly intensive and experimental, as there are no standard regimens or approvals for the simultaneous use of all four agents together in clinical practice. Each component has established roles in the treatment of various solid tumors—most notably lung cancer (especially non-small cell lung cancer), mesothelioma, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, pancreatic cancer (cisplatin/gemcitabine), and others—but not as this specific four-drug regimen[1][4][6][8].
