Overview

The cisplatin + gemcitabine + paclitaxel combination is a triple chemotherapy regimen that has been studied for various cancer types. This regimen works through multiple mechanisms to disrupt cancer cell division and growth. Cisplatin forms crosslinks with DNA, interfering with cell division. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis. Paclitaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules, preventing cell division. The combination has shown effectiveness in treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), germ cell tumors, and is being investigated for pancreatic cancer patients with BRCA1/2 or PALB2 mutations.
