This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs—cisplatin, osimertinib, and pemetrexed—used in the treatment of certain cancers, most notably non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Each component has a distinct mechanism of action: - Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that causes DNA crosslinking and damage, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - Osimertinib is an oral third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively targets both EGFR-sensitizing and T790M resistance mutations. - Pemetrexed is an antifolate antineoplastic agent that inhibits multiple folate-dependent enzymes involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA, thereby blocking cancer cell replication[1][2][3][4][5]. This combination may be used for advanced or metastatic NSCLC with specific molecular profiles or as part of clinical trials.
