Overview

Cisplatin + paclitaxel + bevacizumab is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of advanced, persistent, recurrent, or metastatic cervical cancer. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Paclitaxel is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), inhibiting angiogenesis required for tumor growth and metastasis. The addition of bevacizumab to cisplatin-paclitaxel has been shown to improve progression-free survival and overall survival in patients with advanced cervical cancer compared to chemotherapy alone[1][3][5]. This combination may also be used off-label or in clinical trials for other gynecologic malignancies.
