Cisplatin + rucaparib is a combination therapy consisting of cisplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapy agent, and rucaparib, a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor. This combination has been investigated primarily in clinical trials for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients who had residual disease after standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The rationale behind this combination is based on the hypothesis that TNBC has an exploitable DNA damage repair defect similar to that seen in patients with germline BRCA mutations, which might be targeted by both cisplatin and PARP inhibition.
