Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Clarithromycin** is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, used primarily for respiratory tract infections and other bacterial infections. - **Methylprednisolone** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It acts by modulating gene expression via the glucocorticoid receptor, reducing inflammation in various conditions including asthma and allergic reactions[7][5]. - **Salbutamol** (also known as albuterol) is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that causes bronchodilation by relaxing bronchial smooth muscle. It provides rapid relief from bronchospasm in asthma, COPD, and other obstructive airway diseases[3][6][8]. This combination may be used in clinical settings where both infection control (clarithromycin), reduction of airway inflammation (methylprednisolone), and rapid bronchodilation (salbutamol) are required—such as severe exacerbations of respiratory diseases with suspected or confirmed infection. There are studies supporting the combined use of methylprednisolone and salbutamol for improved lung function in acute settings[1][5]. However, there is no evidence this specific triple combination exists as a fixed-dose product; it would typically be prescribed as separate agents.
