Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ecocel Plus Nail Lacquer is a topical, water-soluble nail lacquer developed by Polichem S.A. for the treatment of nail alterations resulting from infectious diseases (such as fungal infections), inflammatory conditions, and physical or chemical damage. The formulation utilizes Polichem's proprietary hydroxypropyl-chitosan (HPCH) technology, which forms a protective film that penetrates the nail's keratin matrix, fills irregularities, and acts as a mechanical barrier against fungal growth. The active functional ingredients are climbazole, an azole antifungal that inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, and piroctone olamine (also known as octopirox), a pyridone derivative antifungal. These ingredients work synergistically to inhibit fungal growth and improve nail health without requiring organic solvents for removal or nail filing prior to application.
