Overview

IDP-111 is a topical fixed-dose generic formulation of **clindamycin 1%** as clindamycin phosphate and **benzoyl peroxide 5%** for acne vulgaris. It was developed at Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences, acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals, launched by Mylan in August 2009, and subsequently divested to Mylan in February 2012. Clindamycin inhibits susceptible bacterial protein synthesis through the 50S ribosomal subunit, while benzoyl peroxide provides non-specific oxidizing, bactericidal activity and helps reduce *Cutibacterium acnes* burden. The product was approved through an abbreviated new drug application as a generic equivalent of BenzaClin.
