Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clindamycin + hydrocortisone is a topical combination drug containing clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, and hydrocortisone, a glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Clindamycin acts by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and providing antibacterial activity. Hydrocortisone exerts anti-inflammatory effects by acting as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor, reducing inflammation in the skin. This combination is primarily used for dermatological conditions where both infection and inflammation are present[1][8]. The product may be formulated as a lotion or cream for topical application.
