Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Solaris Pharma's clindamycin phosphate and tretinoin gel (1.2%/0.025%) is a topical combination therapy approved for the treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years and older. Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, exerts its effect by binding to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. Tretinoin is a retinoid that interacts with retinoic acid receptors to modulate keratinocyte differentiation and reduce inflammation. This product was approved by the FDA in February 2022 as a generic equivalent to the brand-name product Veltin.
