ClinOleic + Omegaven

ClinOleic + Omegaven is an intravenous lipid emulsion combination used primarily in parenteral nutrition for the prevention and treatment of parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis (PNAC) and intestinal failure-associated liver disease (IFALD), especially in neonates and pediatric patients. The mixture typically combines olive oil/soybean oil-based lipids (ClinOleic) with fish oil-based lipids rich in omega-3 fatty acids (Omegaven), often at a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio. This combination provides essential fatty acids while reducing the risk of liver complications associated with traditional soybean oil-based emulsions. Mechanistically, it supplies energy, essential fatty acids, and modulates inflammatory responses by altering the balance of omega-6 to omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Clinical studies have shown improved outcomes in infants with short bowel syndrome or IFALD when using this combination compared to standard lipid emulsions[2][3][7].
