Overview
Cortilona compuesto is a topical combination dermatological cream containing fluocinolone acetonide, a synthetic corticosteroid, and clioquinol, a halogenated hydroxyquinoline with broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties. Fluocinolone acetonide acts as a potent glucocorticoid receptor agonist to alleviate inflammation, pruritus, and vasoconstriction associated with various dermatoses. Clioquinol acts as a metal chelator and ionophore, disrupting microbial cell membranes and essential enzymatic processes to treat or prevent secondary bacterial and fungal infections. Developed and marketed by Offenbach in Mexico, this combination is indicated for inflammatory skin conditions, such as dermatitis and psoriasis, complicated by secondary infections.
