Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lozivate MF is a topical combination ointment containing the potent corticosteroid clobetasol propionate, along with the keratolytic and moisturizing agents lactic acid, salicylic acid, and urea. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of severe, dry, and scaly inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. Clobetasol propionate acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by binding to glucocorticoid receptors and suppressing the release of inflammatory cytokines. Salicylic acid and lactic acid act as chemical exfoliants (keratolytics) that break down keratin clumps and promote the shedding of dead skin cells, which enhances the penetration of clobetasol. Urea acts as a humectant to draw moisture into the skin, softening thickened plaques and improving skin hydration.
