Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calmbeta is a fixed-dose combination of the benzodiazepine clonazepam and the non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist propranolol. Developed and marketed by Med Manor Organics, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and associated physical symptoms such as palpitations, tremors, and tachycardia. Clonazepam acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor, enhancing inhibitory GABAergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system to alleviate emotional distress and prevent seizures. Propranolol competitively blocks beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, reducing heart rate, blood pressure, and peripheral manifestations of somatic anxiety. Calmbeta is administered orally in tablet form.
