Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This fixed-dose combination (FDC) product, developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical, contains 75 mg of clopidogrel and 100 mg of aspirin. It is designed for the treatment of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome, providing dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in a single oral capsule to improve patient compliance. Clopidogrel is a thienopyridine-class P2Y12 receptor antagonist that selectively and irreversibly inhibits the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor, thereby preventing ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex and subsequent platelet aggregation. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) acts as a cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) inhibitor, irreversibly blocking the production of thromboxane A2, a potent inducer of platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction. The combination is primarily used to prevent atherothrombotic events in patients with established cardiovascular disease or those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
