Overview

A combination of two probiotic strains, *Clostridium butyricum* and *Bifidobacterium infantis*, used primarily for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD). *Clostridium butyricum* is a gram-positive, spore-forming anaerobe that produces butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that provides energy to colonocytes, maintains the integrity of the intestinal mucosa, and inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria like *Clostridium difficile*. *Bifidobacterium infantis* is a key colonizer of the infant gut that aids in the digestion of complex carbohydrates and supports the development of the immune system. Together, they restore the balance of the intestinal microflora, which is often disrupted by antibiotic therapy. This combination has been notably studied and utilized by Shenzhen City Children Hospital for pediatric AAD management.
