Clotrimazole + hydrocortisone acetate is a topical combination drug containing clotrimazole, an imidazole-class antifungal agent, and hydrocortisone acetate, a mild corticosteroid. Clotrimazole works by inhibiting lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which disrupts fungal cell membrane ergosterol biosynthesis, while hydrocortisone acetate targets glucocorticoid receptors to reduce inflammation, swelling, redness, and itching. This combination is primarily used to treat inflamed fungal skin infections, such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis), and tinea versicolor.
