CMV-TCR-T cells are an adoptive T-cell immunotherapy consisting of donor-derived T cells engineered to express specific T-cell receptors (TCRs) targeting cytomegalovirus (CMV) antigens. Developed by Xiao-Jun Huang and colleagues at Peking University, these cells are designed to treat refractory CMV infection or viremia in patients who have undergone haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The engineered TCRs specifically recognize CMV viral peptides, such as those from the pp65 protein, presented by specific HLA molecules (e.g., HLA-A*1101, HLA-A*0201, or HLA-A*2402) on the surface of infected cells. Upon recognition, the TCR-T cells exert direct cytotoxicity to eliminate the CMV-infected cells and restore anti-viral immunity.
