Overview

CMVpp65-A*0201 peptide is a synthetic nonameric peptide (sequence NLVPMVATV) derived from the phosphoprotein 65 (pp65) of human cytomegalovirus (CMV). It is presented by the MHC class I molecule HLA-A*0201 and represents an immunodominant epitope recognized by CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes in individuals with this allele. The peptide is widely used in research and clinical settings to stimulate or detect antigen-specific T cell responses, particularly for monitoring immune status in transplant recipients or developing adoptive T cell therapies and vaccines against CMV. Its mechanism of action involves binding to HLA-A*0201 on antigen-presenting cells, enabling recognition and activation of specific CD8+ T cells that target cells expressing the viral antigen[4][5][9]. The sequence is highly conserved among different wild-type strains of human cytomegalovirus[5][9].
