Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CN54gp140 + GLA-AF is an experimental HIV vaccine candidate consisting of a trimeric recombinant envelope glycoprotein (gp140) derived from the HIV-1 clade C strain 97CN54, formulated with the adjuvant GLA-AF (glucopyranosyl lipid adjuvant-aqueous formulation). Developed by Imperial College London and the UK HIV Vaccine Consortium, the vaccine aims to induce protective immune responses, including envelope-specific binding antibodies and mucosal immunity, against HIV-1. GLA-AF acts as a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist to enhance the immunogenicity of the protein subunit. It has been primarily evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials, often as a boost in prime-boost regimens involving DNA or MVA-based vaccines.
