Prodyl C is a combination pharmaceutical product formulated as an oral syrup, containing the opioid antitussive codeine and the first-generation antihistamine triprolidine. Developed and marketed by Ravian Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the symptomatic relief of cough and upper respiratory symptoms associated with the common cold or allergic rhinitis. Codeine functions as a central cough suppressant by acting as an agonist at mu-opioid receptors in the medullary cough center, thereby increasing the cough threshold.
