Overview

Colchicine + cyclophosphamide is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Colchicine is an anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits microtubule polymerization by binding to tubulin, thereby disrupting cellular processes such as mitosis and neutrophil activity. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that suppresses the immune system by cross-linking DNA strands, leading to cell death, particularly in rapidly dividing cells. This combination has been explored for use in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as Behçet's disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), though evidence for efficacy is limited[1][2]. Both agents are well-established pharmaceuticals with broad clinical histories.
