Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination regimen consisting of four distinct pharmaceutical agents: - **Colchicine** is an anti-inflammatory small molecule that disrupts microtubule polymerization, primarily used for the treatment and prevention of gout and familial Mediterranean fever. It inhibits neutrophil motility and activity, reducing inflammation[6][2]. - **Dexamethasone** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties. It acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, modulating gene expression to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines[9][2]. - **Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH)** is an anticoagulant that enhances the activity of antithrombin III, inhibiting factor Xa and thrombin to prevent blood clot formation. LMWHs are widely used for prophylaxis and treatment of venous thromboembolism[4]. - **Fluorouracil (5FU)** is an antimetabolite chemotherapy agent that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. It is indicated for various cancers including those of the colon, breast, ovary, liver, pancreas, rectum, stomach, as well as some skin cancers when applied topically[7][10]. This combination does not correspond to any known marketed fixed-dose product or branded regimen but may be considered in specific clinical scenarios where all four mechanisms—anti-inflammation (colchicine/dexamethasone), anticoagulation (LMWH), and cytotoxicity against cancer cells (fluorouracil)—are desired.
