Overview

Compound 21 is a novel small-molecule coumarin-triazole hybrid specifically designed as a potential antineoplastic agent. In preclinical evaluations, this compound demonstrated potent cytotoxicity against the MCF-7 breast cancer and HeLa cervical cancer cell lines, outperforming other analogues in its series. To improve its pharmacokinetics and therapeutic potential, research has focused on its encapsulation within poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles. This nanoformulation enables a controlled, sustained release of the drug over approximately one month following an initial burst, and significantly enhances the compound's anticancer efficacy compared to its free form. The specific molecular target of this compound has not been identified in current literature.
