Compound 21 is a novel small-molecule coumarin-triazole hybrid specifically designed as a potential antineoplastic agent. In preclinical evaluations, this compound demonstrated potent cytotoxicity against the MCF-7 breast cancer and HeLa cervical cancer cell lines, outperforming other analogues in its series. To improve its pharmacokinetics and therapeutic potential, research has focused on its encapsulation within poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles. This nanoformulation enables a controlled, sustained release of the drug over approximately one month following an initial burst, and significantly enhances the compound's anticancer efficacy compared to its free form.
