Overview
Compound Caine + Zinc Subgallate is a combination rectal suppository developed by Jinzhou Jiutai Pharmaceutical for the treatment of anal fissures. The formulation combines a local anesthetic (typically benzocaine) with zinc subgallate, an astringent agent. The anesthetic component acts by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels on peripheral nerve endings, providing rapid relief from pain, itching, and discomfort associated with anal fissures. Zinc subgallate serves as an astringent and mild antiseptic, promoting the contraction of the anal mucosa, reducing inflammation, and facilitating the healing of the fissure. The drug has been investigated in Phase II clinical trials in China to evaluate its efficacy and safety compared to placebo.
