Concanavalin a + epirubicin is a **protein-drug conjugate** in which the lectin *concanavalin A* (ConA) is chemically linked to the anthracycline chemotherapeutic *epirubicin* (EPI) via a pH-sensitive linker. Concanavalin A specifically binds mannose residues, and in this formulation, the conjugate targets bladder cancer cells displaying abnormal mannose glycosylation. EPI provides cytotoxic antineoplastic activity, while ConA confers selective uptake by cancer cells due to its mannose-binding properties. This combination is designed for targeted intravesical chemotherapy, exhibiting increased selectivity and antitumor efficacy in preclinical bladder cancer models, with the goal of reducing toxicity to normal urothelium[1].
