Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Convalescent plasma therapy developed by the Centro de Hematología y Medicina Interna at Clínica Ruiz for the treatment of severe COVID-19. This biologic therapy involves the passive immunization of critically ill patients using plasma obtained via apheresis from donors who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. The plasma contains neutralizing antibodies that target the SARS-CoV-2 virus, aiming to bridge the gap before the patient's own immune system produces sufficient antibodies. Clinical evaluation in the Phase 2 COPLA study (NCT04357106) demonstrated improvements in pulmonary function and organ failure scores in ICU patients.
