COPPER(II) COMPLEX C3

COPPER(II) COMPLEX C3 is a binuclear copper(II) complex being investigated as a potential alternative to platinum-based chemotherapy. It demonstrates an affinity for binding to the minor groove of B-form DNA, which is hypothesized to induce a local transition from B-form to Z-form DNA. In vitro studies have shown that it exhibits moderate but selective cytotoxic effects against colon cancer cells, arresting them in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. Furthermore, in a murine colon cancer model, this complex significantly reduced the expression of inflammatory molecules such as pro-IL-1β, TNF-α, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1, leading to reduced tumor growth and metastasis in the lung and liver.
