Overview

CORT125236 + prednisone is an investigational combination therapy developed by Corcept Therapeutics. CORT125236 is a selective glucocorticoid receptor modulator (SGRM), a small molecule designed to compete with or modulate the activity of glucocorticoids at the glucocorticoid receptor (GR). Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid that acts as a GR agonist. The combination is being evaluated in clinical trials to determine if CORT125236 can selectively block the undesirable systemic and metabolic side effects of prednisone (such as weight gain or glucose intolerance) while maintaining its therapeutic anti-inflammatory benefits. Early clinical data in healthy volunteers suggests that CORT125236 can successfully ameliorate several pharmacodynamic markers of prednisone activity, indicating its potential as a co-therapy to improve the safety profile of chronic glucocorticoid treatment.
