Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CoV2 preS dTM-AS03 adjuvanted vaccine (B.1.351), marketed under the brand name VidPrevtyn Beta, is a monovalent recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Sanofi and GSK for the prevention of COVID-19. It is designed as a booster dose for adults who have previously received an mRNA or adenoviral vector COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine contains a soluble, prefusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein derived from the Beta (B.1.351) variant, produced using a baculovirus expression vector system in insect cells. It is formulated with GSK's proprietary AS03 adjuvant system—an oil-in-water emulsion containing squalene, DL-alpha-tocopherol, and polysorbate 80—to enhance immunogenicity. VidPrevtyn Beta was authorized in the European Union and Great Britain in late 2022, but the marketing authorization was subsequently withdrawn in 2024 at the request of the holder.
