COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) developed by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, is a biological therapy consisting of plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. This blood product contains high-titer polyclonal antibodies that provide passive immunotherapy. The mechanism of action involves direct neutralization of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by binding to viral antigens, as well as Fc-dependent effector functions including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement activation, and phagocytosis. It was specifically evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT05904067) for the prevention of COVID-19 in adult hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients during the early post-transplant period, where it was administered intravenously at multiple time points.
