Overview

CP-39,332 is a small molecule drug that acts as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It belongs to the aminotetralin class and is one of several monoamine reuptake inhibitor stereoisomers related to tametraline. The compound was developed by Pfizer but was never marketed. Its mechanism involves inhibiting the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine, increasing their levels in the synaptic cleft and thereby enhancing neurotransmission. Stereoisomers of CP-39,332 include tametraline (1R,4S), CP-24,442 (1S,4R), CP-22,185 (cis), and CP-22,186 (trans), each with varying effects on monoamine reuptake[2][4][5][8].
