CP-866,087

CP-866,087 is a selective glucocorticoid receptor (GR) antagonist developed by Pfizer for the treatment of obesity. The drug was designed to block the metabolic effects of cortisol, which is known to promote central adiposity, insulin resistance, and weight gain. By antagonizing the glucocorticoid receptor, CP-866,087 aimed to reverse these effects and facilitate weight loss. It was evaluated in a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT00411112) involving obese but otherwise healthy adults to assess its efficacy and safety profile. However, following the completion of this trial in 2007, no further clinical development has been reported, and the program is considered discontinued.
