Overview

CPL-01 is an investigational, extended-release injectable formulation of ropivacaine hydrochloride, a member of the amino amide class of local anesthetics. Developed by Cali Biosciences using its proprietary PG-Depot drug delivery platform, CPL-01 is designed to provide sustained local analgesia for up to 72 hours following a single administration at the surgical site. It acts by reversibly blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby inhibiting the influx of sodium ions and preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. CPL-01 is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for the management of postoperative pain (such as after open inguinal herniorrhaphy and bunionectomy) with the goal of reducing or eliminating the need for postoperative opioids.
