Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPX-351 (Vyxeos) is a liposomal encapsulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin in a fixed 5:1 molar ratio. It is designed to optimize the synergistic delivery of these two agents to leukemia cells while minimizing systemic toxicity. Cytarabine is a pyrimidine analog that inhibits DNA polymerase, while daunorubicin is an anthracycline that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II. CPX-351 was developed by Celator Pharmaceuticals (now Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and is primarily indicated for the treatment of adults with newly-diagnosed therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC).
