Cromolyn sodium + cetirizine is an investigational fixed‑dose combination of cromolyn sodium, a mast cell stabilizer, and cetirizine, a second‑generation H1 antihistamine, being developed to treat allergic and other mast cell–mediated conditions. Cromolyn sodium inhibits mast cell degranulation and prevents the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and leukotrienes, thereby reducing early- and late-phase allergic responses, while cetirizine selectively blocks peripheral histamine H1 receptors to attenuate histamine-driven symptoms like sneezing, pruritus, and rhinorrhea.[3][7][8] The rationale for combining these agents is to simultaneously prevent mediator release and block residual histamine activity for more comprehensive control of allergy and mast-cell–related symptoms.[3][7][8]
