Overview

Crotalidae Polyvalent Immune Fab (ovine), marketed under the brand name CroFab, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, purified, polyvalent preparation of ovine-derived Fab (fragment antigen-binding) fragments. It is produced by immunizing sheep with the venom of four North American crotalid snakes: *Crotalus atrox* (Western Diamondback rattlesnake), *Crotalus adamanteus* (Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake), *Crotalus scutulatus* (Mojave rattlesnake), and *Agkistrodon piscivorus* (Cottonmouth or Water Moccasin). The Fab fragments work by binding to and neutralizing venom toxins, facilitating their redistribution away from target tissues and subsequent elimination from the body. It is indicated for the management of adult and pediatric patients with North American crotalid envenomation, including bites from rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths.
