Overview

Cryopreserved hematopoietic progenitor cells, bone marrow, is a cellular therapy product consisting of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) harvested from the bone marrow of a donor and preserved through cryopreservation. These cells are multipotent, possessing the ability to self-renew and differentiate into all mature blood cell types, including erythrocytes, leukocytes, and platelets. In the clinical setting of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), these cells are infused into a recipient whose own bone marrow has been depleted by disease or intensive conditioning therapy. The transplanted cells home to the bone marrow niche, where they engraft and begin the process of hematopoiesis, effectively reconstituting the recipient's blood and immune systems. This therapy is a cornerstone in the treatment of various hematologic malignancies, bone marrow failure syndromes, and certain inherited metabolic or immune disorders.
