Overview

CS-7017 + paclitaxel is a combination investigational therapy consisting of CS-7017 (efatutazone), a selective agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), and paclitaxel, a widely used microtubule inhibitor chemotherapeutic agent. CS-7017 is a thiazolidinedione class synthetic ligand that regulates transcription involved in cellular energy metabolism, while paclitaxel inhibits cell mitosis and induces apoptosis by stabilizing microtubules. The combination has been investigated primarily in patients with advanced or metastatic anaplastic thyroid carcinoma and metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, based on evidence suggesting that CS-7017 enhances the pro-apoptotic effects of paclitaxel, potentially improving outcomes over single-agent therapy. Clinical studies demonstrated tolerability and initial biologic activity, with dose-dependent improvements in time to progression and survival, but the therapy remains investigational[1][7][5][6].
