CS1 is an investigational small molecule cystamine derivative developed by Inno Biopharmaceuticals that acts as a selective inhibitor of histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6). Primarily targeted for the treatment of psoriasis, CS1 works by binding to HDAC6 and subsequently downregulating the AKT (Protein kinase B), MAPK, and STAT3 signaling pathways. This mechanism of action effectively attenuates the hyperproliferation and altered differentiation of keratinocytes and reduces the infiltration of immune cells in psoriatic lesions. In preclinical studies, CS1 has demonstrated the ability to ameliorate imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like inflammation in mouse models and reduce LPS-induced inflammation in vitro, highlighting its potential as a targeted therapy for chronic inflammatory skin diseases.
