CTS-1027 + ribavirin is an investigational combination drug regimen used in clinical trials primarily for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. CTS-1027 is an oral, small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), enzymes believed to play a role in liver inflammation, fibrosis, and potentially viral persistence. By inhibiting MMPs, CTS-1027 is thought to exert anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and immunomodulatory effects, potentially enhancing the immune clearance of HCV-infected cells. Ribavirin is a nucleoside analog antiviral that interferes with viral RNA synthesis. The combination was evaluated as an adjunct to standard antiviral therapy in treatment-experienced or null-responder HCV patients, with the aim of improving the rate of virologic response and sustained viral clearance compared to standard therapies alone[1][2][3][5][7][10].
