Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cupric oxide + zinc oxide is a combination of two inorganic compounds, commonly used as components in multivitamin and mineral supplements or as nanoparticles for research and industrial applications. In dietary supplements, this combination provides essential trace minerals—copper (as cupric oxide) and zinc (as zinc oxide)—which are vital for numerous physiological processes including immune function, enzymatic reactions, antioxidant defense, and skin health[1][7][9]. Both are also used topically or orally in various formulations to address deficiencies or support general health. In animal nutrition, especially in swine and poultry industries, these oxides may be added to feed to promote growth and prevent disease[4][10]. As nanoparticles (Zn-CuO NPs), the combination has been studied for its antimicrobial properties and potential anticancer effects via induction of apoptosis through reactive oxygen species generation and modulation of cellular pathways such as AMPK/mTOR[3][10].
